Code Collab: Team Building Workshop

“Code Collab” was an engaging and interactive Team-Building workshop organized by Pegasus, the computer science association of ST PAULS College. The workshop was held on 3rd September 2024 at the college’s main auditorium. This event aimed to build teamwork and collaboration among students. The resource person for the day was Mr. Melwyn Amrithraj, Assistant Professor at ST Joesphs College, who is well-known for his expertise in fostering team dynamics. Ms. Greeshma, Assistant Professor Department of Computer Science coordinated the event.

Nikitha Deshpande, the third-year BSc student, was the emcee for the event, ensuring that the program ran smoothly and kept the audience engaged. The event had a vibrant atmosphere, with students from the 1st and 2nd years of BCA and BSc as participants, while the 3rd-year students volunteered to help with the arrangements and assist in the activities. The event began with a welcome note, followed by an introduction to the day’s agenda. Mr. Prakash V, the Head of the Department of Computer Science, felicitated the Resource person with a memento as a token of appreciation for his valuable contribution to the event.

The Resource person took a light-hearted yet instructive approach to team building. To promote conversation and break the ice, he encouraged the pupils to sit in a circle. He then offered directions that made the classroom lively and interesting by requiring the pupils to relocate to an empty chair by detailed guidelines. This exercise was not merely a simple game, but it served as a real-world illustration of the importance of flexibility and adaptability in teams, traits that are valued in both academic and professional contexts. The ping pong game was yet another highlight of the occasion. Through a series of icebreakers, group challenges, and trust-building exercises, the activity fostered a stronger sense of unity and collaboration within the team. Participants engaged in various tasks that required them to rely on each other, resulting in improved communication skills and a heightened sense of camaraderie. The activity was successful in boosting morale and motivating the team, leaving a lasting positive impact on their working relationships.

Overall, “Code Collab” was a successful event that left the participants with a deeper understanding of teamwork and collaboration. The efforts of the organizers, volunteers, and particularly the guidance of Ms. Greeshma, faculty coordinator, Department of Computer Science, were instrumental in making the event a memorable experience for all.
