Debate Competition

The Gandhi Study Centre, in association with the National Service Scheme (NSS), organized a thought-provoking Debate Competition on October 9, 2025, at the Mini Auditorium of ST PAULS COLLEGE. The event was conducted to commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and to encourage students to reflect on the timeless values of peace and non-violence.

The theme of the debate — Gandhian Philosophy of Non-Violence: Still Relevant in the Modern World” — provided a meaningful platform for participants to express their views on the significance of Gandhi’s ideals in today’s fast-changing world. Students passionately presented arguments both in favor of and against the motion, highlighting contemporary social, political, and ethical perspectives.

The competition witnessed active participation from undergraduate students across departments, showcasing their critical thinking, communication skills, and awareness of global issues. Mr.Gowtham faculty-departent commerse and management was the judge for the event, evaluated the participants based on clarity of thought, articulation, and the strength of arguments presented.

The event began with a brief introduction about the purpose of the debate and Gandhi’s contributions to the philosophy of non-violence. Participants eloquently discussed the relevance of non-violence in addressing modern challenges such as conflict, intolerance, and social unrest. The debate concluded with insightful remarks from the judges, who commended the participants for their research and presentation.

The session was both intellectually stimulating and inspiring, reminding everyone of the enduring power of Gandhi’s message of peace and humanity. The Gandhi Study Centre and NSS expressed their gratitude to all participants, faculty members, and organizers for making the event a success.
