Guest Talk on Software Defined Network

SDN is an architecture designed to make a network more flexible and easier to manage. SDN centralizes management by abstracting the control plane from the data forwarding function in the discrete networking devices, SDN is intended to address traditional networks' static architecture. SDN separates the forwarding of network packets (data plane) from the routing mechanism in an effort to centralize network intelligence in one network component (controlplane). One or more controllers make up the control plane, which is thought of as the SDNnetwork's central processing unit (CPU) where all of the network's intelligence is housed. The fundamental problem with SDN is that centralization has its own disadvantages in terms of security, scalability, and elasticity. With this focus in mind, Department of Computer Science, ST PAULS COLLEGE, Bengaluru organized a Guest Talk on Software Defined Network

06 February 2023, Exclusive for the students of Computer Science Department.
Number of Students Benefitted: 45 Students.
Department of Computer Science participated with full energy and enthusiasm. Ann Mariam
Bobby of 2 BCA, Welcomed the gathering and Shreya Shukla of 2 BCA introduced the
resource person.

Prof. Annie Christila shared her views on Networking that uses software-based controllers
and application programming interfaces to communicate, then she interacted with students
asking their perspective on SDN, she shared her experiences working on SDN based projects.
She explained the layers of SDN which is being used in 5G network deployments, as
operators are working towards creating a reliable core network architecture. A key part of
building that reliability is implementing technologies like software-defined networking
(SDN) and network functions virtualization (NFV). Later there was Q & A where Prof. Annie
Christila interacted and cleared the doubts students had.
Mr. Melwyn Amrithraj, Department In charge concluded the guest talk with a vote of thanks..
