HACKATHON 2024 – INTER-DEPARTMENT COMPETITION

The PEGASUS Association of Computer Science Department – ST PAULS COLLEGE organized an engaging Inter-Department competition Hackathon-2024 to foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence among students. This event was a great opportunity for students from various departments to come together, compete, and demonstrate their skills across multiple competitive activities. The event saw enthusiastic participation, reflecting the vibrant and dynamic spirit of the college community.

The primary objective of the Hackathon was to provide a platform for students to showcase their technical and creative abilities. By encouraging participants to work in teams, the event also promoted collaboration, strategic thinking, and problem-solving. It aimed to build a sense of camaraderie among students of different disciplines, enhancing their ability to work in diverse teams. A range of competitive events were organized during the Hackathon. The e-sports segment featured popular games like BGMI and Free fire, which required participants to form teams and compete in a battle royale format. These events were designed to test the participants’ strategic thinking, communication skills, and reflexes, creating a thrilling and competitive atmosphere. The PES event allowed football enthusiasts to demonstrate their skills in a virtual football simulation, adding a sports element to the Hackathon.

The HALO event, a classic first-person shooter competition, was another highlight of the day. Teams had to employ precision, tactics, and teamwork to succeed, creating an intense and engaging environment. The NFS racing event also catered to speed enthusiasts, where participants competed to set the best times on the virtual racing track. This event emphasized quick reflexes, precision driving, and strategic planning, adding a fast-paced element to the Hackathon. Apart from the gaming events, the Hackathon also included an Idea Presentation segment, which encouraged students to come up with innovative solutions and present them to a panel of judges. Participants were evaluated on creativity, feasibility, and the potential impact of their ideas. This event promoted critical thinking and creativity, pushing students to think beyond conventional approaches and propose solutions to real-world problems.

Overall, the Hackathon was a tremendous success, with 148 students from different departments including BBA, BA, BCOM, BCA, BSC, MA, and MSC, participated in the various events. Winners and Runners were awarded with certificates. The event not only allowed students to showcase their abilities but also facilitated learning through competition. Feedback collected from participants and faculty members was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing a desire for more such events in the future. The success of this Hackathon has set a benchmark for future inter-department competitions at ST PAULS COLLEGE.
