On August 23, 2024, the Department of Computer Science at St. Paul’s College, in
collaboration with the IIC, organized a highly informative mentoring session on web
development. The event featured Mr. Mohamed Imran Khan, a seasoned web developer
with extensive experience in both front-end and back-end technologies, as the distinguished
guest speaker. Ms. Nikita, a final year BSc Student, opened the session with a welcoming
address, setting a positive and engaging tone for the day. The audience, comprising
enthusiastic students from both BCA and BSc programs, was ready to explore the evolving
field of web development.
The session began with Mr. Imran’s insightful keynote address. He provided a
comprehensive overview of the timeline and evolution of web development, tracing its
journey from static HTML pages to dynamic, interactive web applications. His discussion
covered the pivotal technological advancements that have shaped modern web
development, highlighting the transition from early web technologies to contemporary
frameworks and practices.
Mr. Imran then introduced the core technologies involved in web development, dividing
them into front-end and back-end categories. He detailed the essentials of front-end
development, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and explained their roles in creating
user-friendly and responsive web interfaces. On the back-end side, he covered server-side
technologies and frameworks such as Node.js, Python (with Django or Flask), and Ruby on
Rails, emphasizing their importance in managing data and application logic.
A significant portion of the session was dedicated to discussing career opportunities in web
development. Mr. Imran elaborated on various career paths, including roles such as front-
end developer, back-end developer, full-stack developer, and web designer. He highlighted
the growing demand for web developers and the diverse job prospects available in startups,
established tech companies, and freelance opportunities.
The event also featured an interactive segment where Mr. Imran engaged directly with the
students, answering their questions and providing personalized advice. This hands-on
approach allowed attendees to deepen their understanding and clarify any doubts regarding
web development concepts.
Distinguished faculty members, including Mr. Suhas, Ms. Lincy, actively participated in the
session, enriching the experience with their expertise and support. Their presence added
value to the discussion, offering students a well-rounded perspective on web development.
One of the key moments of the session was the practical exercise where students were

encouraged to brainstorm and develop their own web development project ideas. Each
student outlined their project concept, including potential technologies to use and
development strategies. This activity sparked creativity and allowed students to apply what
they had learned in a tangible way.
As the session concluded, Ms. Nikita, delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks. Her remarks
effectively captured the success of the event and expressed appreciation for the valuable
insights shared by Mr. Imran.
