Mental Health Awareness Street paly

On December 6th, 2024, a group of enthusiastic students from ST PAULS College conducted an informative and engaging street play at Schoenstatt St. Mary’s School to raise awareness about mental health. The primary goal of the performance was to break the stigma surrounding mental health, provide valuable insights on common mental health challenges, and encourage open conversations. The event aimed at promoting mental well-being among young students, empowering them with the tools to identify mental health issues in themselves and their peers, and encouraging them to seek help when needed

The performance took place in an open area within the Schoenstatt St. Mary’s School campus, which allowed students from various classes to gather and participate in the event. The street play began with a lively introduction that captured the attention of the audience through relatable scenarios and catchy dialogues.

The play followed the story of a fictional student, who experiences emotional struggles, such as stress from academics, loneliness, and feelings of inadequacy. His journey through these challenges was portrayed in a way that highlighted both the internal and external pressures that can contribute to mental health issues.

The students from Schoenstatt St. Mary’s School responded with great enthusiasm and engagement. The play was well-received, with many students nodding in recognition of the situations depicted and actively participating in the discussions that followed the performance.

Several students approached the performers and school counselors afterward to discuss their thoughts on the play, ask questions, and seek advice about mental health. This indicated that the street play succeeded in fostering an open dialogue about mental health, and many students expressed gratitude for the opportunity to learn more about such an important topic.
