National Library Week-2024

The Department of the Library and Information Centre, in collaboration with the Mysore University Library Science Alumni Network (MILAN), celebrated National Library Week on 14 November 2024. The event began with a captivating invocation song performed by students, creating an inspiring atmosphere. Dr. V Babu, Head of the Department, welcomed attendees and emphasized the significance of such gatherings for promoting library services. Ms. Malini T S formally honoured the Guest of Honour, Dr. B M Meera, who addressed the critical role of libraries in safeguarding information and fostering lifelong learning. Fr. Dr. Shaiju V, Vice principal and Administrator of ST PAULS COLLEGE, delivered a presidential address. Fr. Highlighted the importance of library and librarianship. The highlight of the event was a guest lecture by Chief Guest Dr. Somya S Bhat, who discussed “Eye Care for Young Adults in the Digital Era.” She provided valuable insights on the effects of prolonged screen time on eye health and shared practical tips for maintaining eye care in a digital world, resonating well with the audience. The event concluded with Mahesh M S, the Librarian, delivering a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all attendees, guests, and management for their contributions to the event’s success, which was met with warm appreciation from everyone present.
