World Mental Health Week Activities at ST PAULS COLLEGE

ST PAULS College celebrated World Mental Health Week with a series of engaging events aimed at promoting mental well-being among students and faculty.

  • Day 1: Treasure Hunt Competition
On October 8, 2024, the Mini Auditorium buzzed with excitement as the first event, a treasure hunt competition, kicked off. Ms. Anagha provided participants with general instructions and rules, leading to the participation of seven enthusiastic teams. After receiving their first clue, teams spread across the campus, racing against time to find hidden tokens held by student volunteers. The first team to locate the final token, “Ajay and Joe,” was declared the winner and received a cash prize during the closing ceremony. All participants and volunteers were appreciated for their efforts, fostering a spirit of positive competition and leaving everyone with feelings of joy and recognition.

  • Day 2: Screening of “Dear Zindagi”
On October 9, 2023, ST PAULS College continued its observance of World Mental Health Week by hosting a screening of the acclaimed film “Dear Zindagi.” This event aimed to raise awareness and facilitate discussions around mental health issues among students. Held at 1 PM in the Mini Auditorium, the screening attracted over 50 attendees eager to engage with the film’s themes of self-discovery and the importance of seeking help. Post-event feedback indicated that students found the film enlightening and appreciated the safe space for discussion it provided. This successful screening contributed significantly to the week’s objectives, encouraging students to foster open dialogues about emotional well-being.

  • Day 3: Faculty Development Program
On October 10, 2023, in observance of World Mental Health Day, ST PAULS College organized a Faculty Development Program centered on the theme “Mental Health at Work.” The program sought to raise awareness about the importance of mental well-being within educational institutions and equip faculty members with strategies to promote a supportive environment. The principal opened the session, emphasizing the need for mental health awareness in the fast-paced educational landscape. The highlight was a keynote address by Dr. Swarnalatha Iyer, a renowned psychologist, who discussed several key areas, including understanding mental health in the workplace, identifying stressors, promoting mental well-being, and available resources and support. This program was a resounding success, enhancing faculty understanding of mental health issues and reinforcing the college’s commitment to creating a healthy and supportive work environment.

Through these initiatives, ST PAULS College demonstrated its dedication to mental health awareness, fostering a supportive community for both students and faculty.
