Student Council members of the college are elected based on good character and solid academic, co-curricular and extracurricular standing. They officially represent all the students of the college. The council members identify and help solve problems encountered by the students by reporting them to the management. The 6-member student council is comprised of the President, Vice-President, two Sports Secretaries and two Cultural Secretaries. The council members have to be model students in the campus. They collaborate closely with the student volunteers during college events to maintain the discipline of the institution. The objective of the student council is to encourage students to volunteer in the University, State, National and International level cultural and sports competitions, collaborate with other clubs like CSA, NSS and Health Club, and involve in outreach activities. They also assist the coordinators of different clubs like arts, dance, music, theatre and fashion show. The student council participate in organizing and conducting the intra-collegiate sports and cultural events of the college.

Alumni association of the institution gives an opportunity for the graduated students to come back to their alma mater and reminisce their days in the college, meeting their teachers and the management. The institution celebrates St Pauls Alumni Day on 26 January every year. Alumni fund created by the alumni themselves is used for outreach programmes and various extension activities. Alumni Meet of each department is also arranged on a day convenient to the alumni. The departments ensure that the alumni meet the students, share their experiences in relation to career opportunities, higher studies and their need to involve in various clubs, committees and associations of the college to equip themselves for a life and career outside.

ST PAULS COLLEGE provides financial aid to deserving as well as financially challenged and poor students through its own scholarship programmes. Even at the admission level, the administration establishes criteria for giving scholarships to outstanding applicants (refer to the website for the percentage of management scholarships for the criteria for awarding scholarships at the entrance level). Economically Poor students are given special consideration, and the nation’s dedication to diversity and inclusion is also taken into consideration.

The college also administers scholarships supported by social welfare division of Bangalore University and by national or state social welfare organisations. In line with the motto of the institution, “Creating Professionals for a Better Tomorrow”, ST PAULS COLLEGE has a proactive training, development and placement cell, coordinated by a full-time placement officer. The Placement Cell works in coordination with all the departments of the college to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical experience. It directs programs aimed to train students in various job-oriented skills.  The Cell invites several reputed companies for campus selection and recruitment from time to time and also provides due career guidance right from the start of the courses and special training and assistance is given to their final year to prepare their CVs, take aptitude tests, conduct group discussions and prepare them for interviews.

The function of the library committee is to support the functioning of the library. It can facilitate the library development plans by advocating the library development activities with the management. The purpose of the library committee is to act as a channel of communication between the library and its users.Besides this, for smooth functioning of the library and safeguarding the interest of all library users, formation of policies, rules & regulations, and implementation of the library policies in a judicious manner, an infrastructure is needed for the library. The Women Empowerment Cell is established to empower female students and faculty to enhance their understanding of issues related to women and to make the campus a safe place for them to study, work and achieve their goals. The Cell takes up women’s issues and problems and aims to create awareness about their rights and duties through guest lectures, seminars, awareness programmes and different welfare activities. It’s a platform for them to share their experiences and views regarding their status in the society. The cell also trains women to acquire wide range of skills and knowledge to develop their social, economic and intellectual capacities.

Objectives

1. To help women to become aware of the importance of good health, nutrition, hygiene and the facilities available to them

The plan for Equal Opportunity Cell for universities is adopted by the UGC in the XII Plan (2012-2017). The Bangalore University has established the same in the year 2014. The basic purpose of this cell is to give equal opportunity to any deprived group or an individual in the field of higher education. This cell will create awareness among the students from SC/ST/OBC/Minorities/Differently abled persons or any other disadvantaged groups. It also ensures conducive environment for all the deprived groups and arranges special lectures from time to time by eminent personalities and academicians on topics such as Gender Equality, Equality and Discrimination, Rights of Minorities and Challenges and Way outs for Differently abled persons.

The basic purpose of this cell is to give equal opportunity to any deprived group or an individual in the field of higher education.

In pursuance of UGC (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal of Sexual Harassment of Women Employees and Students in Higher Education Institutions) Regulations, 2015 read with Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, the Internal Compliance Committee (ICC) & Anti Sexual Harassment Cell (ASHC) of the ST PAULS COLLEGE is constituted to deal with complaints, and to provide a healthy and congenial atmosphere for the staff and students of the College.

Sexual harassment includes any unwelcome sexually determined behaviour either directly or by implication, such as:

  • Verbal or physical threats
  • Insulting, abusive, embarrassing or patronizing behaviour or comments
  • Offensive gestures, language, rumours, gossip or jokes
  • Humiliating, intimidating, demeaning and/or persistent criticism
  • Open hostility or Suggestive comments or body language
  • Isolation or exclusion from normal work or study place
  • Publishing, circulating or displaying pornographic, racist, sexually suggestive or offensive pictures or other materials
  • Unwanted physical contact ranging from an invasion of space to a serious assault
  • Eve-teasing or Unsavoury remarks
  • Jokes causing or likely to cause awkwardness or embarrassment
  • Innuendos and taunts
  • Gender-based insults or sexist remarks
  • Unwelcome sexual overtone in any manner
  • Unsolicited physical touch or molestation
  • Physical confinement against one’s will and any other act likely to violate one’s privacy
Objectives
  • To ensure a safe environment for students and staff
  • To create a secure physical and social environment that deters acts of sexual harassment
  • To develop principles and procedures for combating sexual harassment.
  • The complainant will have to submit a written and signed complaint addressed to the Coordinator of the Cell.
  • The Coordinator will call the complainant for a personal meeting, usually within a week from the submission of the written complaint.
  • The members of the Cell will discuss the complaint.
  • If the case falls outside the purview of the Cell, the complaint will be informed to the Principal.
  • If the case comes within the purview of the Cell, an enquiry committee will be set up and the committee will submit a report and recommend the action to be taken by the Principal.
  • If any legal action is required, the complaint will be forwarded to the police with the help of an advocate.

Depending upon the severity of the case, punitive action may take any of the following forms,

  • Warning
  • Written apology
  • Bond of good behaviour
  • Adverse remark in the Confidential Report
  • Stopping of increments/promotion
  • Suspension
  • Dismissal
  • Any other relevant actions

All female faculty members, non-teaching staff and students must bear in mind that such complaints are of an extremely serious nature and should, on no account, be made in a frivolous manner. This platform should not be misused to settle personal scores, or for any other non- genuine reason

  • The inquiry shall be completed within a period of 30 days from the date of the complaint.
  • The ICC shall provide a report of its findings to the Principal within a period of 10 days from the date of completion of the inquiry and such report shall be made available to the concerned parties.
  • If the allegation against the respondent has been proved, the ICC shall recommend punitive action(s) to be taken against the respondent.
  • The Principal shall act upon the recommendation within 30 days of receiving it.

A special Cell to look into the needs of students from the category of Other Backward Classes (Backward and Most Backward) students and staff of the institution is constituted and functioning on the campus in accordance with the XI plan guidelines of the University Grants Commission. The ST PAULS COLLEGE affiliated with Bangalore University established the same in the year 2021. The OBC Cell of ST PAULS COLLEGE is working with the motto of empowering the OBC communities on campus. The OBC Cell is established in the College with the primary aim of facilitating the access to equal opportunities and facilities available in the college and assisting the students in their curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. The Cell has been set up to help students from these communities achieve all-around development.

Objectives

  • To ensure equal opportunities for the education of OBC students

  • Ensure reservation norms in the admission of students and in the appointments of teaching and non-teaching staff.

  • Maintain social relationships among the admitted students in the college and resolve issues, grievances, representations etc.

  • Explore redressal mechanisms and provisions for remedial coaching, counselling, etc.

  • Coordination of equal opportunity, welfare and other schemes including financial assistance from the government and UGC.

The committee meets at least once a year and submits an annual report to the Head of the Institution on OBC students admitted adhering to reservation norms, redressal of complaints (if any) and  adequately manage the relationship environment, facilities for girl students, financial assistance received from the state and central governments etc.

The minority cell of ST PAULS COLLEGE is constituted for the purpose of supporting students who belong to minority communities. ST PAULS COLLEGE upholds the right of each student to education and equal opportunities, the institution is keen on serving the educational and cultural needs of the students of minority communities along with the students belonging to varied castes, creeds and religions. Minority Cell aims to facilitate the growth and progress of students from minority communities to access equal opportunities and support them to excel in academics and holistic development.

Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) have been identified as the two most backward groups of Indian Society. The SC/ST cell of ST PAULS COLLEGE has been established to support and bring students from such communities into the mainstream. The plan for SC/ST Cell for universities is adopted by the UGC in the XII Plan (2012-2017). ST PAULS COLLEGE affiliated with Bangalore University established the same in the year 2021. The cell functions to ensure that students from these communities have equal access to opportunities and facilities extended to other students.

Objectives
  • To counsel and guide SC/ ST students and help them to manage academic and personal issues of college life effectively.
  • To ensure an environment where such students feel safe and secure and treated without any discriminative practices
  • To provide prompt counselling for any emotional emergencies arising on account of any event at the campus.
  • To provide the mechanism to redress the grievance of SC/ST students, if any

Objectives
  • To inculcate an accountable and responsive attitude among all the stakeholders in order to ensure a harmonious educational atmosphere in the college
  • To redress grievances reported by the students of the college and thereby uphold the dignity of the college
  • To ensure a strife free atmosphere in the campus through promotion of cordial student-teacher and student-student relationship

Rules and Regulations:
  • Complaints should either be sent to the official email id or be dropped in the suggestion box.
  • The merits of the complaints lodged by students will be thoroughly evaluated.
  • Anyone with a genuine grievance may approach the members in person.

The disciplinary committee ensures smooth and safe environment in the campus. It maintains a conducive educational environment and redresses the grievance at individual, class level and grievances of common interest. Complaints dropped in the Suggestion Box by students and parents and verbal complaints are also redressed by the management and the committee. The disciplinary committee ensures that all the rules and regulations laid down by the institution is followed on a day-to-day level.

Objectives

1. To create a safe and conducive environment in our institution and to bring professionalism among students by the inclusion of best practices
2. To encourage positive attitude and create healthy practices
3. To follow up on students to ensure the right implementation of rules and regulations in the campus
4. To help implement the rules and regulations of the college regarding ID card, dress code, mobile usage, language, late arrival, misbehaviour, etc.
5. To ensure that the campus is free of smoking, drugs and alcohol
6. To recover the cost of damage caused to the college property by any student / group of students with additional fine from the said student / group with proper disciplinary action

Protection of human rights is essential for the all-round development of an individual's personality. To realise the primary needs of the students and secure civil liberties for everybody, a Grievance Redressal Cell has been constituted. The Cell convenes meetings periodically and takes steps to redress the grievances. The students' problems are redressed at the earliest, and mediated by the Cell. It also keeps a record of all the grievances that were redressed. The anti-ragging committee on campus collects a written and signed affidavit from all students and their parents/guardians at the time of admission. The committee keeps themselves alert to any instances of ragging. It is the responsibility of the committee to ensure prompt actions if and when there is a case of ragging.

As per the order of Supreme Court of India and subsequent Notification from University Grants Commission (UGC), ragging constitutes one or more of any intention by any student or group of students on:
1. Any act of indiscipline, teasing or handling with rudeness
2. Any act that prevents or disrupts the regular academic activity
3. Any activity which is likely to cause annoyance, hardship, psychological harm or creates fear or apprehension
4. Any act of financial extortion or forceful expenditure
5. Any act of physical abuse causing assault, harm or danger to health
6. Any act of abuse by spoken words, emails, SMS, public insult, etc.
7. Any act of injury or infringement of the fundamental rights to the human dignity
8. Any act of wrongful confinement, kidnapping, molesting or committing unnatural offences, use of criminal forces, trespass or intimidation
9. Any unlawful assembly or conspiracy to ragging

Objectives

1. Records undertaking confirmed by each student and his/her parents or guardians with necessary details which will be stored electronically
2. Records the registered complaints received and the status of the action taken

Disciplinary Action:

Any student or group of students found guilty of ragging in the campus or even outside the campus shall be liable to one or more of the following punishments:
1. Expulsion from the college as per the case
2. Debar from appearing in any sessional test / University Examination
3. Suspension from attending classes and academic privileges
4. Withdrawal of scholarships and other benefits
5. Suspension from the college for a period of one month

Human Protection Cell has been initiated in our college during the academic year 2021-2022. The cell aims at creating awareness about human rights and fundamentals duties as a citizen among the faculty, staff, and students. It also aims at the personality development of individuals and to lead a decent and dignified life without infringing the rights of others. Only when Human Rights are acknowledged, respected, and promoted, Justice and Peace can become a reality. Keeping in mind that individuals can attain their full potential only if they are not denied their rights. The cell thrives to educate and empower students on Human Rights and enables them to exercise their rights and also respect and uphold the rights of others.

Besides academics, the institution promotes and makes available myriad resources and opportunities to ensure that its students emerge as morally upright citizens who are socially connected to the needs of the poor. True to this, CSA has adopted two panchayats under which there are many small villages. Drawing inspiration from the vision of the institution, it provides a platform for students in their character formation and helps to explore and develop the art of critical thinking, leadership skills and interventions aimed to build a just society. The centre forms and conscientizes young students to reach out to the deprived and vulnerable sections of the society by empowering them through skill enhancement and training. CSA also aims at helping other students to be sensitive to the poor by showing concern and compassion. The various activities carried out by CSA are health awareness programmes, classes for Govt. school children, exam preparation classes for 10th Std Kannada medium students, health camp, collecting and distributing essential things to the orphan children and the needy, etc.

1. To give students the opportunity to be exposed to rural communities and learn the challenges the communities face.
2. To inspire, motivate, and educate students so that they take something from the experience of rural outreach programmes and pursue their goals with an open mind

The Entrepreneurship Cell of the college focuses on developing the entrepreneurial skills of students. It aims to produce successful entrepreneurs imbibed with leadership qualities using innovative and ethical business practices to create global impact. E-Cell tries to instill passion among students to pursue their goal and motivates them to develop their own start-ups and business incubators. It attempts to create independent business persons out of interested students who will not only become self-employed but can also provide employment to others. The Cell conducts workshops, competitions and interactive sessions with eminent personalities who are role models when it comes to business development. Besides, specially trained faculty impart entrepreneurship skills among students. The Cell also conducts an annual exhibition day on which students market their products through different means.

Gender Equality Cell is established at ST PAULS COLLEGE to ensure that both male and female students and staff enjoy the same rights and opportunities inside the campus and to help build an egalitarian society.

Objectives

1. To create awareness about the need of gender equality
2. To promote gender amity among all the college students and staff
3. To eliminate deep rooted beliefs of gender bias and gender insensitivity
4. To instill positive self-esteem and confidence in both genders.
5. To create appropriate environment in the college where students and staff carry out their responsibilities without any disadvantage related to gender bias.

Roles and responsibilities:

1. Any complains with regards to the gender inequality and gender-based violence should be reported to the Cell.
2. The coordinator along with the members in the Cell will examine and investigate each complaint received with due seriousness and promptness.
3. The Cell needs to record complaints or grievances in a register exclusively for this purpose.
4. The Cell should take appropriate action on the wrongdoers and ensure such things do not repeated.
5. If the case falls outside the purview of the Cell, the complaint will be informed to the Principal. If the case is that of grave nature, legal action will be to be initiated.

The human mind is the most amazing among all creations in this beautiful universe of ours, the mind is capable of both creating and interpreting our world for us, this is what makes it imperative for anyone concerned with progress to take good care of this beautiful aspect called mind. Mental health is of utmost importance on the campus of ST PAULS COLLEGE and it is our constant endeavour to prepare a strong workforce for the nation and in the growing context of the youth needing guidance, support and hand holding, this is what has led us to including counselling and guidance as an indispensable service on our campus. Our counselling cell provides a non-judgmental, confidential and supportive atmosphere and aims to help students to make proper adjustments in academic pursuit and improved quality of life.

Objectives

1. To help students identify and develop their talents and potentialities
2. To help students identify the problem areas of their life and deal with them effectively
3. To train them to deal with distress and anxiety
4. To help them grow in healthy relationships
5. To enable students to take responsible decisions and become self-actualized individuals

Professional skills classes are organized to help the students to meet the needs of the corporate world. The programme equips the students with updated tools and techniques that are needed to face the challenges of their professional career. The programme enables the students to develop their professional skills and abilities to become active job seekers as well as life-long learners, and prepares them to be ready for the industry and a world of work. The participants get trained in leadership skills, communication skills, conflict resolution, team work, etc. PSDP is generally held towards the end of the second year and during the final year studies.
