OBC Cell

A special Cell to look into the needs of students from the category of Other Backward Classes (Backward and Most Backward) students and staff of the institution is constituted and functioning on the campus in accordance with the XI plan guidelines of the University Grants Commission. The ST PAULS COLLEGE affiliated with Bangalore University established the same in the year 2021. The OBC Cell of ST PAULS COLLEGE is working with the motto of empowering the OBC communities on campus. The OBC Cell is established in the College with the primary aim of facilitating the access to equal opportunities and facilities available in the college and assisting the students in their curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. The Cell has been set up to help students from these communities achieve all-around development.

Objectives:

  • To ensure equal opportunities for the education of OBC students

  • Ensure reservation norms in the admission of students and in the appointments of teaching and non-teaching staff.

  • Maintain social relationships among the admitted students in the college and resolve issues, grievances, representations etc.

  • Explore redressal mechanisms and provisions for remedial coaching, counselling, etc.

  • Coordination of equal opportunity, welfare and other schemes including financial assistance from the government and UGC.

The committee meets at least once a year and submits an annual report to the Head of the Institution on OBC students admitted adhering to reservation norms, redressal of complaints (if any) and  adequately manage the relationship environment, facilities for girl students, financial assistance received from the state and central governments etc.
