Third National Conference Media Nexus 2024

<p style=”font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;”>The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, ST PAULS COLLEGE, Bengaluru, in association with the Department of Communication, Bangalore University, orchestrated the Third National Conference – Media Nexus 2024 on the 17th of April, 2024. This distinguished gathering welcomed scholars, students, and teaching faculty, converging upon this platform to delve into the multifaceted dimensions of Media and its Nexus concerning Language and Communication, Digital Technology, Consumer Behaviour, Media Effects, Gaming and Pop Culture, and various other fields of Media Research.
The enlightening inaugural session of Media Nexus 2024 witnessed the presence of esteemed speakers who left an indelible mark on the audience. The gathering was formally welcomed by Rev. Fr. Dr. Shaiju Joseph, Vice Principal of ST PAULS COLLEGE, Bengaluru. Rev. Fr. Dr. Thomas M J, Principal of ST PAULS COLLEGE, Bengaluru, delivered a captivating Presidential Address, igniting insightful discussions. The conference commenced with the Inaugural Address by Prof K V Nagaraj, Former Pro Vice Chancellor of Mizoram University, followed by the Keynote Address delivered by Prof. B K Ravi, Vice Chancellor of Koppal University.
Panel Discussion: Innovation v/s Tradition in Higher Education
The Media Nexus 2024 event unfolded with an enriching panel discussion and engaging paper presentation sessions, epitomizing the spirit of academic inquiry and innovation in higher education.
The panel discussion on “Innovation v/s Tradition: Adapting Higher Education to Modern Challenges” captivated attendees with profound insights and lively discourse. Moderated by the erudite Rev Fr. Dr. Shaiju Joseph, the session featured distinguished speakers who brought diverse perspectives to the table.
Prof Tenzin Pasang, Principal of The Dalai Lama Institute for Higher Education, Bengaluru, emphasized the importance of embracing innovation while upholding traditional values in higher education. Prof Gururaj Sridhara, Dean – Academics of Acharya Institute of Graduate Studies, Bengaluru, underscored the significance of balancing innovation and tradition to enhance learning outcomes.
Rev Fr Dr Thomas MJ, Principal of ST PAULS COLLEGE, Bengaluru, offered nuanced insights into navigating the tensions between innovation and tradition, highlighting the importance of continuous improvement. Prof A Mumtaz, Director of Quality Assurance at MS Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences, Bengaluru, emphasized the role of quality assurance mechanisms in aligning innovative practices with institutional values.
The panellists engaged in lively exchanges, challenging conventional wisdom and exploring innovative approaches to address contemporary challenges in higher education.

Paper Presentation Sessions: Showcasing Scholarly Contributions

The paper presentation sessions at Media Nexus 2024 showcased a diverse array of scholarly contributions, spanning eight sessions across four venues. With a total of 71 papers presented, the sessions provided a platform for meaningful exchange and collaboration among presenters and attendees.
Eminent scholars and experts chaired each session, ensuring meticulous curation and fostering robust discussions. The sessions were intellectually stimulating, reflecting the depth and breadth of research in the field of journalism and mass communication across India.
Our honorary session chairs, Rev. Fr. Dr. Shaiju Joseph, Vice Principal and Assistant Professor at the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, ST PAULS COLLEGE, Dr. Rajashekar D, Assistant Professor, Christ (Deemed to be University), Yeshwantpur, Dr. Supriya M, Assistant Professor, Assistant Professor, Dalai Lama Institute for Higher Education, Dr. Divya Kumari K P, Assistant Professor, Department of JMC, REVA University, Dr. Premavathi M, Head, Department of JMC, Acharya Institute of Graduate Studies, Bengaluru, and Dr. Sharada T, UG HoD and PG Coordinator, Department of JMC, NMKRV College for Women played a pivotal role in facilitating the success of the sessions.
Overall, Media Nexus 2024 showcased the vibrancy of the academic community and underscored the importance of innovation and tradition in shaping the future of higher education.

The Valedictory Event at Media Nexus 2024 marked the culmination of an enlightening conference, bringing together esteemed speakers and participants to celebrate the achievements and contributions of all involved.
The event commenced with a warm Welcome Address by Ms. Elizabeth Jancy from the Department of Humanities, setting the stage for an inspiring conclusion to the conference.
Rev Fr. Dr. Thomas MJ, the Principal of ST PAULS COLLEGE, graced the occasion with his Presidential Address, reflecting on the significance of the conference and its impact on academia.
Dr. Babu V, IQAC Coordinator and Head of Commerce and Management, shared valuable insights during his IQAC Remarks, emphasizing the importance of quality assurance in academic endeavors.
Session chairs were felicitated for their invaluable contributions in guiding and facilitating engaging discussions throughout the conference, acknowledging their pivotal role in its success.
The highlight of the event was the Certificate Distribution to the five best paper winners, recognizing their exceptional contributions to the field of journalism and mass communication.
